While primarily known for their shotguns, Mossberg has a history with the manufacture of handguns. Their latest offerings build upon their reputation for manufacturing dependable, reliable and affordable firearms. And now, with XS Sights installed on your Mossberg MC1sc, your Mossberg pistol will be ready for daily carry.

Mossberg pistols are equipped with plastic sights that are not ideal for EDC or a home defense gun. XS offers durable iron sights that will hold up to years of abuse and stay on the gun. Our sights come equipped with tritium to provide an illuminated sight picture in low light. Tritium glows for 10-years and does not require batteries or maintenance. We carry a variety of sight pictures tailored to specific shooting styles.

R3D Nights offer an enhanced notch and post sight traditional sight picture, built for a life time of hard use. All XS sight systems are designed around highly visible front sights to enhance front sight focus. R3D sights feature a brighter tritium vial in the front sight to increase front sight focus. The rear features a simple blacked-out face with a wide notch to increase visible light around the front post.

XS front sights are equipped with our proprietary photoluminescent Ember Glow Dot technology. The Glow Dot features a high-contrast color in bright light, absorbs ambient light, and glows in low light. Ember is available in multiple colors to satisfy personal color preferences.

XS Sights R3D sights will give your Mossberg MC1sc the fastest sight acquisition possible.

Mossberg History

Oscar Frederick Mossberg and his sons, Iver and Harold, founded the O.F. Mossbeg & Sons company in 1919. Mossberg had emigrated to the United States in 1886 from Sweden. After working for many of the most well-known firearm manufacturers of the late 1800’s, Mossberg and his sons founded their own company in 1919.

Mossberg’s initial product, the Brownie, was a four shot, .22 caliber pocket pistol intended for humanely dispatching wounded or trapped animals. 37,000 Brownie pistols were manufactured from 1920-1932. The success of the Brownie allowed the Mossberg family to expand their product offerings. The company elected to focus on sporting arms and is well known for their shotguns.

Mossberg’s best-known product, the M500 series of shotguns, was released in 1961. While primarily intended for sporting use, the high quality and affordable price of the M500 quickly gained the attention of law enforcement agencies nationwide. This was followed by the introduction of the 590, intended for military usage, and the 590A1, which was accepted as the primary shotgun for the U.S. military in 1987.

In January 2019, Mossberg re-entered the handgun market with the Mossberg MC1sc – a subcompact, polymer framed, striker fired pistol. The MC1sc was noted as being a reliable, accurate and affordable pistol for the self-defense market. The MC2c, a compact model, followed in 2020.

Mossbeg, under the leadership of Alan Iver Mossberg, Jr., is still owned by the Mossberg family, and is continuing their legacy of manufacturing quality firearms.
