R3D Night Sights

See Your Sights Day and Night!
XS R3D Night Sights feature a traditional 3-dot tritium, notch and post sight picture. The blacked-out rear increases contrast against the front sight. The front sight is available in orange or green and is equipped with our Ember® Glow Dot Technology. Ember absorbs ambient light and glows in low light. The front tritium lamp charges the Ember dot making the front sight glow brighter than the rear at all times, keeping focus downrange. R3D sights are the brightest notch and post option for fast and accurate shooting in bright and low light.
R3D Night Sights recieve the Gold rating from the members of the NTOA for 2020 excellence
Front Sight Focus
We at XS believe in front sight focus. The front sight must stand out in all lighting conditions, from bright light to low light. The rear sight should be simplistic, drive focus to the front, without slowing down sight acquisition, and have crisp corner edges for accurate 4-corner alignment.
Tritium night sights need to be visible day and night. R3D front sights are available in an orange or green Ember Glow Dot, offering a high-contrast sight picture in bright light settings. The 0.170" wide rear notch allows space around the 0.145" wide front blade. This gap makes front sight indexing much faster, while still allowing for accurate sight alignment. The blacked-out rear keeps the shooter's focus on the front sight and the threat downrange.
Built for Duty
All XS night sights are CNC machined from steel bar stock in the great state of Texas. The steel construction ensures the sights are protected from drops, racking off barricades, and will hold up for years. The steel surface is blued to resist rusting with a regular cleaning and oil schedule. R3D sights are chemically resistant to acetone-based cleaning solutions and ultrasonic cleaners. The convex dot is gun powder residue resistant and can be easily wiped off with a cleaning cloth.

Why Make 3-Dot Night Sights After 20 Years?
Standard 3-Dot tritium rear sights tend to glow brighter than most fronts because the combined glow intensity of the two rear tritium lamps are closer to the eye and together have a higher glowing surface area than the front. R3D front sights use a tritium lamp that is twice as bright and 30% larger than an individual lamp from the 2-dot rear. The light produced from the front sight's tritium lamp charges the Ember Glow Dot ensuring the front sight is always brighter than the 2-Dot tritium rear. Once exposed to any other environmental ambient light, the Ember dot glows very brightly, differentiating it from the rear dots.

Ember Glow Dot helps cover mid-light levels where a standard tritium sight glow would not yet be visible. In extremely low light levels, it provides a more prominent glowing front sight. To learn more about our photoluminescent Glow Dots and color options visit our blog.
R3D Sight dimensions
With over 20 years of night sight manufacturing experience, we have learned that gunfights don’t happen in perfect light or complete darkness. They happen in between these two broad spectrums. Night sights don’t just need to glow in the dark. They need to be visible at all times.
During defensive altercations, you may experience an adrenaline rush that will cause your basic motor functions to become clumsy, fixated tunnel vision on the threat, and most likely both you and your attacker will be moving. Combat accuracy is crucial at this point, but people tend to not look at their sights when shooting in this situation (this is not point shooting). Our R3D sights ensure the big, colored, glowing front sight will be in your line of sight for a combat accurate sight picture that allows for a simple, sufficient alignment when there is insufficient time and distance between yourself and the threat day or night.
