About the Glock 17
The Glock 17 handgun was popularized in the 1980s and became the standard for modern law enforcement. The 9mm double stack pistol features a standard 17-round magazine capacity and uses a full-size 4.5-inch barrel. The full-size G17 is ideal for duty and home defense. The full-size grip and weight make the pistol easy to shoot and lessen the felt recoil from plus P defensive ammo. Glock’s do not require much maintenance and are known for being ready to fire out of the box. We have personally seen Glocks run for 25,000 rounds with no part changes. We probably should have changed the recoil spring a few times!
Glock Generation Compatibility
All XS Glock handgun sights are compatible with every generation, including the Modular Optic System (MOS). Don’t get sucked into the Gen 5 compatible sight or MOS sight overhang forums. Our sights have been tested on numerous generations for the past 25-years. Our minimalistic glock 17 handgun sight designs have always shied away from big overhangs, saving us from launching a MOS-specific set due to the dovetail movement.
Glock Sight Installation
Are you looking at installing the sights yourself? Don’t worry; they are one of the easiest sets to install. Most of our rear sights can be installed by a sight pusher tool or the old hammer and punch method. Most of our Glock sights ship with a Glock front sight tool and red Vibra-Tite thread locker.
Each product page has detailed instructions per installation method, and you can also check out our Glock DIY install blog for some crafty ways to install sights if you don’t want to invest in a sight pusher tool or own a vise. We have expert gunsmiths on staff that can walk you through the process.
